Nature’s Champion
Hominid Sounds [2016]

Who: Precise, rough-hewn heavy noise rock from Leeds.

Sound: Cattle boasts an intense heavy sound that fans of Dope Body and Slint would appreciate.

TFN Final Take: Cattle hit me right across the jaw with their opening track, “Tanking the Piss” off their new LP Nature’s Champion. This is ear-pummeling noise rock. It can be very precise noise and it can be very loose. Deliberate and minimal in delivery not unlike listening to Slint (listen to track three, “Acrylic”) but with shifts into sludgy grooves that remind me of Dope Body. Seven tracks and 30 minutes later I am a fan. This is a great way to start 2017.
