Beck Returns with Tour Dates and a New Video for “Ride Lonesome”
Yesterday, Beck unveiled the stunning surprise single “Ride Lonesome,” and now he follows it with a video that deepens the song’s beautifully worn in atmosphere. Produced by Beck and mixed by Nigel Godrich, the track taps into the same haunted warmth that made Morning Phase and Sea Change such lasting touchstones, while still sounding like the start of something new.
From its resonant acoustic opening to the emotional lift of its closing chorus, “Ride Lonesome” feels like a long awaited return to one of Beck’s most affecting modes. The new song also features multiple musicians who played on those earlier landmark records, adding another layer of continuity to a release that feels both reflective and forward looking.
Alongside the new video, Beck has announced the Ride Lonesome Tour, a 25 date North American run that begins September 16 in Vancouver and wraps October 31 in Nashville. The itinerary includes stops at Red Rocks, the Greek in Los Angeles, two night stands in San Francisco, Toronto, and Brooklyn, and a number of theaters and amphitheaters that should suit this material perfectly.
Citi cardmembers can access presale tickets beginning Tuesday, April 21 at 11am local time through Thursday, April 23 at 10pm local time. General on sale begins Friday, April 24 at 10am local time. For more information, visit Beck.com.
