Jack White
Vault Package #14
Third Man Records [2012]
As a fan of anything Jack White – I’ll take anything I can get. So falling out of the Vault Package #14 (which also includes Jack White Live at Third Man and the photo book “Shark Infested Soda Fountain”) is this beautiful 7-inch courtesy of Third Man Records.
Here White puts the “rough” in rough demos as each track sounds like it could have easily been the immediate capture of his song ideas. Side A gives us the crude beginnings of “Freedom at 21” with light keys and simple chord strums. Side B is a bare bones demo of “Hypocritical Kiss” that cuts suddenly into “Love Interruption” with a quicker delivery of chorus lyrics.
The 7-inch is a neat peak at the beginnings of the Blunderbuss sessions but what makes this one especially unique is the marble sky blue pressing, clearly another win for the Third Man Record Vault in my book!
