Fire Drill Album Review: What a fun record! The Alabama Shakes frontwoman, Brittany Howard, just dropped on us a powerful new rock project perfectly titled Thunderbitch. The record holds to its namesake right from the dynamic opener, “Leather Jacket” to its rock out finale “Heavenly Feeling.” I liked the Shakes latest record Sound & Color but it did have a more “mature” sound. Thunderbitch forgets all of that and lets everything loose as Howard, and band, kick these tracks in the ass. I can’t stop thinking that Thunderbitch is a modern Shangri-Las, as Howard has several Mary Weiss moments throughout its run. Basically, this record just never gets old!
