Kim Deal’s Live at the Barbican Captures a Once-in-a-Lifetime Night

The Breeders co-founder shares the trailer for her upcoming live album and film, recorded at a sold-out orchestral performance in London last March. Out November 13 on 4AD.

On March 1, 2025, Kim Deal invited herself to the Barbican. That’s her telling of it: she was mixing her debut solo album in Hackney, knew that former 4AD colleague Chris Sharp was now at the venue, and reached out to ask if she could bring the orchestrated arrangements from Nobody Loves You More to life on stage. He said yes. The result was a sold-out evening that ended in a standing ovation, and now it’s being released in full.

Live at the Barbican arrives November 13, nearly two years after Nobody Loves You More’s initial release, and marks the first time in Deal’s decades-long career that she has performed with a full orchestra. Backed by a 25-piece ensemble, the Shards Choir, and her own band, Deal played through the solo record before opening up to tracks from The Breeders’ back catalog and her earlier solo work. Special guest Raymond McGinley of Teenage Fanclub joined for two songs. The live record was mixed at Studio Black Box in France and mastered by Heba Kadry. An accompanying film, directed by Cuan Roche, arrives the same day.

The live LP spans 18 tracks across four sides of magenta vinyl, tracing the full arc of that evening from the opening title track through Breeders deep cuts and closing with “Do You Love Me Now?” It is dedicated, in the credits, in loving memory of Steve Albini, who recorded much of the solo record before his death in 2024.
