Premiere: Goodnight Nobody Arrive Fully Formed on “Aurora” — and Vermont Indie Rock Has a New Name to Know

Single Premiere

Goodnight Nobody

In February 2026, a rare Baltimore snowstorm descended on Magpie Cage studio. Inside, Vermont three-piece Goodnight Nobody were recording their self-titled debut with J. Robbins (Jawbox, Burning Airlines) at the helm. Eight fully formed tracks emerged from the kind of conditions that tend to sharpen focus. The result is a debut worth anticipating, and “Aurora” is the lead single premiering right here.

Goodnight Nobody treats its influences like building blocks instead of blueprints. Those familiar roots are all here with Dischord’s tension, Kill Rock Stars’ adventurous streak, emo’s heart, and math rock’s rhythmic turns they’re assembled into something that feels fresh rather than familiar. Jason Dean (guitar, vocals), formerly of Seattle noise-rock outfit Mutiny Mutiny, leads the trio alongside bassist Ben Glassman and drummer Nich Kramer, whose driving rhythm section gives Dean’s guitar work room to twist and soar.

“Aurora takes musical inspiration from the chorus-heavy basslines of New Order’s Peter Hook and imagines a scenario where the natural world briefly loosens the grip technology has on our daily lives.” — Jason Dean

This is a band with a fully formed vision on their first record, and that’s rarer than it should be. The self-titled debut arrives September 18 on Sweet Cheetah Records on limited black vinyl and CD, with pre-sale starting July 31. Burlington-area shows surround the release. Get ahead of this one and keep an eye on the band’s Bandcamp page when pre-orders go live tomorrow.
