C.O.F.F.I.N (Children of Finland Fighting in Norway) have spent twenty years evolving from a Northern Beaches upstart into one of Australia’s most respected rock exports, sharing stages with Amyl and the Sniffers, Viagra Boys, and King Gizzard along the way. Their last album earned an ARIA nomination for Best Hard Rock Album. Now they return with “Think Bad,” the lead single from Out in Oslo, their sixth album due September 18 on p(doom) Records.

The single marks a deliberate gear shift. Where C.O.F.F.I.N have built their reputation on fast-paced wall-of-sound power, “Think Bad” settles into a mid-paced groove with ZZ Top toughness running through it. The band says it’s about using negativity as fuel, using hard thoughts as a compass, understanding that cynicism and reckless behavior combined can produce the greatest losses. The video was shot at an amusement park and features the band goofing around, which is exactly the right move for a song this deliberate and heavy.

“Think Bad describes the use of negativity to fuel forward motion. It’s about using hard thoughts as a compass, reminding yourself that not everything that feels good is good for you.” — Ben Portnoy

Out in Oslo was produced by Declan Mehrtens (Amyl and the Sniffers), with vocals co-produced by Jason Whalley (Frenzal Rhomb). A documentary, 10,000 Miles From Oslo, is also rolling out with UK screenings in August and Q&A events in November. The band tours EU and UK in November and December. Pre-order the album below.
