Holy Wave – “California Took My Bobby Away” [Video]

Holy Wave have a new video for the first single “California Took My Bobby Away” from their upcoming LP, Freaks of Nurture. Freaks of Nurture will be out March 11 on Reverberation Appreciation Society.

Freaks Of Nurture is the bands third LP. It was recorded at Cacophony Recorders in Austin, TX by Erik Wofford (Explosions In The Sky, The Black Angels, My Morning Jacket). The album is now up for pre-order HERE which gives you 160g clear cream vinyl + insert, and is limited to 500 copies.

Pete Astor – “Very Good Lock” [Video]

Pete Astor is previously of The Loft and The Weather Prophet which were on Creation Records back in the 80’s. Since then, he has released several solo records and some more experimental material, while also teaching at University of Westminsteras.

His new record, Spilt Milk, is out today and reviewed HERE. This video just captures his presence perfectly and highlights why you should check out his new album via Slumberland Records.

Hey Lover – “Nancy” [Video]

Portland garage pop mainstays, Hey Lover have announced the upcoming release of their third album, Sinking Ships. Justin and Terah Beth (husband and wife) formed Hey Lover nearly a decade ago, playing their first show on their wedding night.

Their new single, “Nancy,” comes accompanied with this catchy animated music video by Cain Hendricks which takes viewers on a strange and captivating journey that leaves them wanting more. The LP, Sinking Ships, will be released in May, after which the band will play a week-long west-coast tour and a two-week run in Spain + Portugal. Dates to be announced in the coming months.

Bad Reed – “Punch It” [Video]

Here is a new video entitled “Punch It” from Canadian alt rock/crossover quartet Bad Reed. The band is currently on tour in Southeast Canada in support of their EP that you can find HERE.

R. Ring – “Loud Underneath” [Video]

R. Ring is a group that we have been quietly following since 2012 that is comprised of The Breeders’ Kelley Deal (Dayton, OH) and Ampline’s Mike Montgomery (Dayton, KY). From their first 7″ release to some of their most recent singles they have lived up to the under current of hype for what we have hoped would lead to a full length.

If fact, I actually had a chance to ask Kelley about that LP release several years ago and her polite response was ” it will be coming out when you write it.” Of course it was all in fun but now the group has recently recorded tracks for a full length that hopefully should see the light of day this year.

This track for sure shows their potential and you can catch them out on tour at the dates below.

Nada Surf – “Cold To See Clear” [Video]

Nada Surf has released the first video from their new album You Know Who You Are. The clip was directed by Spencer Gentz and features something a little different happening at the office. For those of us that have been there, I believe we only wish everyday was like a day with Nada Surf on the speakers!

Their eighth record is out March 4, and was produced by long-time buddy Tom Beaujour at Nuthouse Recording in Hoboken, NJ. The album marks the band’s first as an official quartet with the core unit – singer/ songwriter/guitarist Matthew Caws, bassist Daniel Lorca and drummer Ira Elliot – joined by Doug Gillard on guitar.

Teen Suicide – “Alex” [Video]

Baltimore’s Teen Suicide are back with a new double LP, It’s the Big Joyous Celebration, Let’s Stir the Honeypot, out April 1, 2016 via Run For Cover Records. The first for the group since 2012, Teen Suicide began as the solo project of Sam Ray (Ricky Eat Acid, Julia Brown) with a rotating cast of musicians.

Here is a taste from the record with their new video for “Alex.” They have a very cool indie basement sound which I think comes out perfectly in this video. Tracklisting and Tour Dates below.

face to face: “Disconnected” [Video Classic]

So face to face has a new record coming out March 4th on Fat Wreck Chords and the new track sounds fairly rocking. So rocking that it just might be a Friday Fire Track soon. Regardless of how the future turns out, we can tell you that you absolutely can not go wrong with their break out track “Disconnected.”

This is easily one of our favorite tracks from their 1992 record Don’t Turn Away and the early 90s punk movement and this video backs it up. Enjoy.

Brian Fallon – “A Wonderful Life” [Video]

Here is the official new video from Gaslight Anthem frontman Brian Fallon. The music video is for his new single, “A Wonderful Life,” from his debut solo album, Painkillers which hits shelves March 11 on Island Records. If there is any question that Fallon has the Springsteen vibe then this clip will surely help in your decision.

Fallon just completed a series of live dates and picks the road back up in several weeks. You can find the dates below.

La Sera – “High Notes” [Video]

Here is the first music video from La Sera’s forthcoming album, Music For Listening To Music To, which is out March 4 on Polyvinyl Records. “High Notes,” showcases a little more twang from Katy Goodman and the crew than we are used to which really works with her voice.

It probably is not a stretch to blame this new found direction on producer Ryan Adams as he helped take La Sera into the analog realm for a more back-to-basics approach. Without having heard the entire record yet, I will trust my gut and say that their efforts will be a win.

Also for your own warning – watch out for that gorilla on drums. He is a ripper!

High Waisted – “Party In The Back” [Video]

I always have liked rowdy bands and New York’s High Waisted have a name and a new video, “Party In The Back,” which highlights their rambunctiousness. The video features pizza, acid, booze, and tons of people having fun — a typical Saturday night for all of us – right?!

I think you will really like the raw effort here. High Waisted is currently on a Midwestern US tour in support of their LP On Ludlow, which hits the streets March 4. Tour dates are below.

Half Japanese – “We Cannot Miss” [Video]

Founded by brothers Jad & David Fair in 1975, Half Japanese is credited with pioneering the DIY and lo-fi movements while influencing everyone from Sonic Youth and Neutral Milk Hotel to Daniel Johnston and Kurt Cobain (who had the band open Nirvana’s In Utero tour.)

Today, Half Japanese have just released their new LP, Perfect! “We Cannot Miss” is your chance to check out a track and enjoy the hand-drawn animations by Jad Fair that brings the band’s playful lyrics to life. You can order up a copy of the album HERE over at Joyful Noise Recordings.

Baby Jesus – “You Make Me Fry” [Video]

Here is the new video from Scandinavian garage/psych band, Baby Jesus. The group released their self-titled debut late last year on Yippee Ki Yay Record. The entire album was recorded during one live session then mixed and mastered all on their own in a studio they built themselves in Hamstad, Sweden.

The video is a perfect fit with its slightly out of focus basement playing. If raw garage rock is your thing there is no reason not to let the Baby Jesus in!

Big Eyes – “When You Were 25” [Video]

If your Friday isn’t moving yet then check out this video from New York’s Big Eyes. “When You Were 25” is a tight number that reminds me of The Muffs no nonsense approach. Not only will the song capture your attention but singer Kait Eldridge’s antics are fun to watch throughout the clip.

You currently can still pick up a limited 7″ of this track over at Greenway Records if you go HERE. You can also check them out on tour starting January 21st in NYC. The rest of the dates are below.

David Bowie – “Lazarus” [Video]

The news couldn’t be any sadder this morning to hear that David Bowie had succumbed to a very private 18 month battle with cancer. His impact on the music scene and the catalog he left will be remembered and played by generations to come, which is a refreshing thought as the music world mourns his passing.

Bowie just released his latest album, Blackstar, on Friday and the “Lazarus” video is a new classic. Bowie has always pushed boundaries and today, more so than ever, “Lazarus” is an exclamation mark on his artistry. RIP Thin White Duke – you will be greatly missed but never forgotten. David Bowie 1947-2016.

Sincola – “Bitch” [Video Classic]

Looking for some 90’s attitude? Look no further than Austin’s Sincola! “Bitch” is their statement track from the 1995 album What the Nothinghead Said on Caroline Records. Vocalist Rebecca Cannon, kicks it where it counts with her direct vocals and makes it really easy to sing along.

Sincola had a follow up with 1996’s Crash Landing in Teen Heaven, and opened for the Toadies, Joan Jett, and Morphine, among others. Even with some hype, not every band makes it and Sincola sadly called it quits in 1997 after Caroline fell apart.

Cage The Elephant – “Mess Around” [Video]

Here is the video for Cage the Elephant’s first single “Mess Around” from their recently released album Tell Me I’m Pretty. The 10-song record was produced by Dan Auerbach of The Black Keys, mixed by Tom Elmhirst (Amy Winehouse, Adele, Florence + the Machine) and recorded at Easy Eye Sound in Nashville, TN, near the band’s home town of Bowling Green, KY. One listen and you can tell as the track has a catchy touch.

Ra Ra Riot – “Water” [Video]

Ra Ra Riot have just released the video for “Water,” from their recently announced forthcoming album, Need Your Light out February 19, 2016 on Barsuk Records. Vampire Weekend’s Rostam, who conceived of the video, co-directed “Water” with Josh Goleman (Alabama Shakes, Skrillex, Gary Clark Jr).
