The Lemon Twigs Can’t Help Themselves — And That’s the Whole Point.

The Lemon Twigs

The Lemon Twigs are back with their sixth studio album, Look For Your Mind!, out May 8th on Captured Tracks. Beneath its breezy, sun-drenched surface runs a streak of paranoia and unease — which, if you know the D’Addario brothers, feels exactly right. “I do think that now is a time of insanity,” says Brian. “You really have to hold onto your own mind if you don’t wanna lose it.”

Lead single “I Just Can’t Get Over Losing You” is the perfect introduction. It opens with jangly guitars and all the hallmarks of a great pop song — until it isn’t. The bridge arrives early, the chorus gets clipped, and Brian and Eva Chambers’ harmonies spiral into something genuinely euphoric. It’s a bait and switch pulled off with total confidence.

“Every time we try to write something that’s completely straightforward, we can’t help adding an element which comes out of left field. We always want to write a song we’ve never heard before.” — Brian D’Addario

The album also marks a shift in how the Twigs work. For the first time, live bandmates Reza Matin (drums) and Danny Ayala (bass), plus Eva Chambers of Tchotchke, are part of the studio picture. Brian and Michael previously handled everything themselves, so bringing in collaborators signals something looser and more alive this time around.

It builds directly on the momentum of A Dream Is All We Know (2024) and Everything Harmony (2023) — two records that felt like a reset, a new chapter, a band finally making music purely for themselves. Michael puts it simply: “It was the beginning of making records that we would listen to ourselves.” Look For Your Mind! is where that instinct fully takes over. Pre-order it below.
