Fire Track: This Is Lorelei – “Name The Band”

“Past Meets Present, and It’s Glowing in Holo”

Nate Amos doesn’t do things the usual way. As This Is Lorelei, he’s built a world that exists somewhere between tender confession and offbeat pop brilliance. Following the breakout buzz of Box for Buddy, Box for Star, Amos is back with Holo Boy — a new kind of record out December 12 via Double Double Whammy. It’s not a greatest hits album or a sequel, but something more fascinating: a reimagining of ten songs pulled from his sprawling back catalog, now re-recorded with the clarity, humor, and heart of a musician who’s learned a few tricks along the way.

Built mostly in a cramped, sweltering Bed-Stuy apartment with minimal gear and maximum focus, Holo Boy captures the scrappy essence of Amos’ early Bandcamp years while giving his past material a fresh pulse. “Name the Band,” the lead single, is pure sunshine — all breezy guitars, sharp hooks, and winking charm. Across the record, those early experiments now feel like polished reflections of who Amos has become, showing off just how wide his songwriting spectrum runs.

Instead of nostalgia, Holo Boy feels like time travel — a window into the artist’s evolution, from humble beginnings to indie darling. It’s warm, funny, a little self-deprecating, and full of that strange spark only Amos seems to summon. Think of it as This Is Lorelei in 4K: every quirk and melody shining brighter than before.
