Ratboys Cover The Marked Men’s “Fix My Brain” and Announce a Deluxe Edition With PUP, Wild Pink, Ducks Ltd., and More

Ratboys’ Singin’ to an Empty Chair has received high marks this year already included a Headphone Approved rating here. Now the Chicago five-piece announces a deluxe edition, out September 18 on New West Records, featuring covers of album tracks by PUP, Ducks Ltd., Wild Pink, Bad Bad Hats, and Free Range. Plus a Tiny Desk Concert. Plus this: a SiriusXM session cover of The Marked Men’s “Fix My Brain.”

Julia Steiner explains that “Fix My Brain” was a recent revelation — she hyper-fixated on it, listened on repeat, came home from tour and immediately sat down with her acoustic guitar to learn the chord changes. When it came time to pick a cover for the SiriusXM session, the choice was obvious. The song’s sincerity — having the guts to admit your mistakes and do better — fits Ratboys perfectly.

Ratboys are currently wrapping a European run and head back to North America this month for festival dates and a fall headline tour. They close out the year December 19 at the Salt Shed — their biggest Chicago headlining show to date. Presave the deluxe below.
