Speak Up, Turn It Up: Belair Lip Bombs Drop “Don’t Let Them Tell You (It’s Fair)”

Australia’s Belair Lip Bombs aren’t holding back. Their new single, “Don’t Let Them Tell You (It’s Fair),” comes with a jangly riff, a sturdy groove, and a big message: don’t let anyone walk all over you. Frontwoman Maisie Everett leans into it with conviction, her voice riding a warm, fuzzy wall of guitars that hit somewhere between heart-on-sleeve indie rock and timeless power-pop.

The track was sparked by a chat with Alex Lahey, who told Maisie, “you have to make your own luck.” That phrase stuck, and it now fuels the song’s rallying cry. Add in a riff born out of a Keith Richards tuning experiment and you’ve got a tune that’s equal parts swagger and sincerity.

This is the second look at Again, the band’s new album dropping October 31 via Third Man Records—the label’s very first Australian release. Produced with Nao Anzai (The Teskey Brothers) and Joe White (Rolling Blackouts Coastal Fever), the record promises ten tracks of what the band dubs “yearn-core”: driving rhythms, fuzzy melodies, and vocals that hit like a release valve.

The Lip Bombs have been building a loyal scene back home for eight years, but Again feels like their real coming-out party. They’re kicking it off in a big way too—their first U.S. tour (with Spacey Jane) is already seeing sold-out rooms, and after that, they’re headed to Europe for their own headline run.
