Do you have the New Year’s blues? It is that feeling after the holidays of just too much everything combined with grey winter skies. Well today’s Fire Track from Ryley Walker should help pull you out of the rut and look forward to warmer days.
Walker has a new album, Primrose Green, out March 31st on Dead Oceans. The title track from that album is the feature today and its intricate strumming from the singer/songwriter should grab your attention.
“Primrose Green,” is a colloquial term for a cocktail of whiskey and morning glory seeds that packs an aftereffect the morning after. This song has that very vibe as it floats along with Walker’s Ron Sexsmith meets Joe Henry type of vocal complete with the accompanying piano that rolls through the entire track.
If you like what you hear put Primerose Green on your radar in March and catch Ryley on tour throughout 2015 that includes shows with Zola Jesus, Hamilton Leithauser, Hiss Golden Messenger, Kevin Morby, Moon Duo and Steven Gunn.
