“Rebirth of Decoration Day: The Ultimate Drive-By Truckers Redux”

DBT fans — mark your calendars: on November 14, 2025, The Definitive Decoration Day drops via New West. This isn’t just a reissue — it’s a resurrection. The original 15-track Decoration Day is remixed by David Barbe, mastered by Greg Calbi, and cut at Abbey Road. But that’s just the beginning.

Also included is the never-before-released double-LP Heathens Live at Flicker Bar, Athens, GA – June 20, 2002, an intimate acoustic show from the home turf, captured a full year before Decoration Day even existed. And to top it off: a 40-page full-color booklet packed with unseen photos, fresh artwork, and a new essay by biographer Stephen Deusner.

Remember Decoration Day? It’s the album that turned heads — praised as one of the most daring records of its era. “Sink Hole,” “Marry Me,” “My Sweet Annette,” plus Jason Isbell’s first DBT tracks “Outfit” and “Decoration Day” all live on here — sounding sharper and deeper than ever.

Patterson Hood calls it “the ultimate version,” and I don’t disagree — there’s weight, clarity, and something new in the mix. The Heathens set adds a rare, raw window into the strip-down evolution of these songs, just as the band was birthing this era.

This will be out on black vinyl, standard formats, and limited editions: olive for indie shops, a blue-burg swirl at Seasick Records, a red-black “HeAthens” pressing for Athens, and burgundy vinyl (1,000 units) via New West. Oh — and of course digital and 3-CD formats too.

Stay tuned — this is Decoration Day like you’ve never heard it before.
