Yves Tumor is a singer, songwriter, and producer known for his experimental approach to music, blending elements of rock, electronic, and soul into a unique and boundary-pushing sound. Born Sean Bowie in Miami, Florida, Yves Tumor began their music career in the early 2010s, and slowly built a bigger following based on their genre-defying sound and passionate lyrics. With each release Yves Tumor have continued to push the boundaries of experimental music and cemented Yves Tumor as a visionary artist. That leads us to Yves Tumor’s third record for Warp Records and most accomplished album to date, Praise A Lord Who Chews But Which Does Not Consume; (Or Simply, Hot Between Worlds).

Yves Tumor’s music here is completely fearless as he combines distorted guitars, electronic beats, and soulful vocals to create a sound that is smoothly beautiful and emotionally charged. Praise A Lord… is produced by Noah Goldstein (Frank Ocean, Rosalía, Drake, Rihanna, Bon Iver), and mixed by Alan Moulder (My Bloody Valentine, Nine Inch Nails), which finds the record excelling with its shaking beats and hazy shoegaze moments. At times it is really hard to describe how effortless Yves Tumor blends tunes on this album. Tumor’s falsetto is always floating and then the harmonies on closer “Ebony Eye” and “Parody” soar. The monstrous wall of guitar in “Meteora Blues” is completely memorable while the attitude and beat on “Echolalia” is hard to get out of your head.

Yves Tumor is a musician who defies easy categorization, pushes in new directions and has carved out a unique space for themselves in the world of indie music. If you’re a fan of adventurous music that breaks the rules, Yves Tumor is definitely an artist to check out as Praise A Lord Who Chews But Which Does Not Consume; (Or Simply, Hot Between Worlds) is his best record to date!
