Elvis II
Thank You Very Much
Under The Gun/Legless Records [2025]

“Short, loud, and gloriously unhinged—Thank You Very Much is rock’n’roll chaos done right.”

Album Overview: Elvis II is a solo shot from Melbourne’s underground that torches rock’n’roll mythology just as fast as it plays with it. While the name gives a cheeky nod to the original King, this isn’t your dad’s Elvis—it’s a greasier, unhinged version that’s crawled out of the Naarm DIY scene, dragging cartoon lore and punk scuzz behind it. Thank You Very Much is his debut LP, and it doesn’t mess around. With a runtime under 20 minutes, it’s all killer, no filler—buzzsaw riffs, cracked fuzzed vocals, and a ragged charm that moves fast and hits hard. Beneath the chaos, there’s a clear sense of purpose: keep it short, loud, weird, and just catchy enough to stick.

Musical Style: The sound is all frayed edges and forward momentum—like early rock’n’roll after it’s been run through a blender full of tape hiss and caffeine. Guitars dart and scrape, drums tumble forward like they’re chasing something, and the vocals are more about vibe than enunciation. It’s a crooked mix of garage grit and punk attitude, with a lo-fi crunch that gives everything a busted-speaker glow. Think of it as budget rock with a flair for theatrics.

Evolution of Sound: This may be Elvis II’s first outing, but there’s a surprising grip on pacing and restraint—well, as restrained as this kind of chaos can be. The record thrives on rapid jolts, but it never falls into a rut. Each track brings a fresh blast of sound, with just enough structure to keep it all from spinning off the rails. It’s not genre-defying, but it is genre-distorting—in the best way.

Artists with Similar Fire: If you’re into the cracked genius of Jay Reatard, the fried hooks of Gee Tee, or the mutant charm of Alien Nosejob, Elvis II should shoot to the top of your list. Fans of Tee Vee Repairmann, early King Tuff, or Erik Nervous will also find plenty to love in this twisted little rock’n’roll gremlin of a record.

Pivotal Tracks: “Livin’ With The APP” opens the record like a sucker punch—hooky and unhinged, with a riff that burrows in while the vocals claw their way through the fuzz. “Mach 10” is pure combustion, riding a groove that threatens to fall apart at every turn but never quite does. “Million Dollar Riff” stretches things out to a (still modest) 3:22, offering a more polished vocal and a tongue-in-cheek showcase for a riff that earns its title. And “Grub Club”? It’s full-throttle nonsense in the best way—wild-eyed, overstuffed, and gloriously messy.

Lyrical Strength: Lyrically, Thank You Very Much thrives on attitude. There’s no deep message here, and that’s the point. The lyrics are buried in the mix and made to be felt more than heard. It’s rebellion via ridiculousness, and it works—the words don’t seem like they are trying to mean something, they’re trying to sound like something, and they do.

Final Groove: Thank You Very Much is a firecracker debut that takes the bones of rock’n’roll and draws a mustache on them. It’s fast, fun, and totally unserious—but sharp in all the right places. Behind the noise is a real understanding of how to make chaos stick. Elvis II doesn’t want to be the King—he wants to burn the throne. Keep an eye on this one; if the next record is even half as much of a blast, we’re in for something special.
