The Friday Fire Track: Gold Class – “Life As A Gun”

Melbourne-based Gold Class has an instantly memorable sound on this new single from their forthcoming record It’s You. Think Morrissey fronting a post-punk band like Jawbox or even Joy Division. If that catches your interest then you are going to really like “Life As A Gun” from Gold Class.

There is a lot to groove on here such as the brooding guitar, the quick repeat chorus and of course the driving vocals of Adam Curley. When he goes into a rapid fire lyric mode, the song hits its climax and abrupt end all at the same point when he sings “Everything I’ve learned / I’ll use until I’ve won / You can have it all / My life as a gun.”

It’s You is due out September 4 on felte and I can tell you that after spinning the full length, Gold Class is ready to make some waves Stateside. Their debut reminds me of Interpol’s Turn On The Bright Lights and should really strike the nerves of listeners hungry for this type of moody indie rock. Enjoy your Friday!
