Fire Track Premiere: Plastic Harpoons – “Modern World”

| | , , , ,

TFN has a solid indie track for you with this premiere from Santa Barbara band Plastic Harpoons. With influences, including Dr. Dog, Bob Dylan, The Rolling Stones, and Houndmouth, Plastic Harpoons pull from a more classic structure but as you will hear in “Modern World” fall in line with the likes of Fleet Foxes, The Tallest Man On Earth and My Morning Jacket.

“Modern World” is the title track and latest single off their forthcoming LP, which is out October 21 via Lolipop Records. Plastic Harpoons have several live dates scheduled in support of the record (dates below) and after playing the song make sure you hit up the links for more details on the band!

“This was the first song that I wrote during Covid. We were a couple of weeks into quarantine and I was pissed. I’m an extrovert and I couldn’t see my friends. I was stuck at home staring at a screen just to talk with them and spending too much time on social media. I decided that I needed to purposely make a change and start playing music more. I usually don’t like to write with other people around and my girlfriend was quarantined with me so I had zero alone time. I forced myself to get over it and this song popped out a day later.”

— Taylor Casey, Vocalist/Songwriter
