The Strokes
Six years is a long time. The last time The Strokes put out new music, it was 2020 and the world was in a very different kind of trouble. Now they’re back with “Falling out of Love,” the second single from Reality Awaits, and they premiered it last night on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert — one of the show’s final musical performances before it wraps next week. Timing, as always with The Strokes, is everything.
Reality Awaits was recorded in Costa Rica with producer Rick Rubin and finished around the globe. It follows “Going Shopping,” the album’s first single, and comes ahead of a world tour that has already sold out arenas across the UK, Europe, and North America. Two nights at Red Rocks. Two nights at London’s The O2. Headline sets at Bonnaroo, Outside Lands, Primavera Sound in Buenos Aires, São Paulo, and Santiago. Summer Sonic in Japan. The Strokes are doing this properly.
Since their 2001 debut, The Strokes’ beloved discography has defined the sound of a generation.
Support across the tour includes Thundercat, Cage the Elephant, Hamilton Leithauser, Fat White Family, The Garden, Alex Cameron, Geordie Greep, Promiseland, and ÖLÜM. Dates below. Pre-save the album while you still can.
