Greg Freeman Runs Wild in “Gulch” — Where Burros, Chaos, and Country-Rock Collide
Vermont’s own Greg Freeman keeps the momentum rolling with a brand-new video for “Gulch,” one of the standout cuts from his breakout album Burnover (Transgressive/Canvasback). The clip stitches together real footage from the annual Cerrillos Burro race in New Mexico, where, as Freeman puts it, “they’re not exactly experts at running in a straight line.” It’s a perfect visual match for his loose, rambling sound — an offbeat blend of pedal steel shimmer, indie grit, and big-hearted twang.
Freeman’s had a monster year — touring Europe, opening for Grandaddy on The Sophtware Slump 25th anniversary run, and logging miles with Hamilton Leithauser. Now he’s stepping out front with his own headlining U.S. tour in early 2026, following a December West Coast swing. Burnover has drawn love from nearly every corner of the music world. It’s a record that turns grief and self-doubt into something explosive and unshakably human — the kind of cathartic indie-country crossover we didn’t know we needed.
Watch “Gulch,” crank Burnover, and catch Greg Freeman when he barrels through your town — this one’s going to be loud, messy, and all heart.
