The Vinyl Rewind — Power Pop, Punk & Monster Surf (VR-001)

| |

This inaugural edition of The Vinyl Rewind pulls together five standout reissues that hit every corner of the crate—from power-pop redemption to horror-surf gold. Whether you’re into cult classics, underground side projects, or a punk record that rewired an entire genre, these pressings deserve a spot in the rotation.

Superdrag – Last Call for Vitriol (Arena Rock Recording Co.)

Original Release (CD only): July 9, 2002 | Vinyl Reissue Date: October 10, 2025 | Format: LP Gatefold, Colored Vinyl | Drop the Needle Here

Why It Matters:
Longtime Superdrag fans have been begging for this one on wax, and it’s finally here. Last Call for Vitriol found the band refining their post-Regretfully Yours bite with a tighter, rawer sound that hits even harder in analog form. This remaster under John Davis brings out every fuzzed-out guitar and hook-laden chorus like it was meant to be heard—needle down, volume up.

Collector’s Note:
Gatefold Pillbox Red vinyl (webstore | 1,200 copies), Root Beer vinyl (Newbury Comics exclusive | 300 copies) and NYC Beer & Black Smoked vinyl (webstore | 300 copies). Limited Edition Signed 12″ x 12″ Album Cover Print (signed by John, Don, Mic & Sam available). Remaster supervised by John Davis.

Twisted Teens – Twisted Teens (Jazz Life)

Original Release (Cassette/Digital): April 13, 2024 | Vinyl Reissue Date: June 16, 2025 | Format: Limited Eco-Vinyl, First Pressing | Drop the Needle HERE

Why It Matters:
Part punk snarl, part psych-country weirdness, Twisted Teens’ debut plays like a mixtape unearthed from a future basement and was made for vinyl. It’s one of those new cult records already primed for re-spin status. The lo-fi swagger and sly hooks feel tailor-made for vinyl’s imperfections—and this first vinyl pressing cements it as a tactile experience.

Collector’s Note:
Limited eco-vinyl rando color edition (hand-stamped center labels, each copy unique). Also standard black vinyl.

Sultans – Shipwrecked (Swami Records)

Original Release (CD only): March 23, 2004 | Vinyl Reissue Date: September 5, 2025 | Format: LP, Splatter & Black Vinyl | Drop the Needle HERE

Why It Matters:
A hidden gem from John Reis’s vault, Shipwrecked finally makes landfall on vinyl. Stripped down and swaggering, this LP is pure garage-rock adrenaline—tight riffs, sneering vocals, and just enough grime to make it timeless. With four bonus tracks including a killer Dils cover, it’s an overdue celebration of the Sultans’ bare-knuckle charm.

Collector’s Note:
First-ever vinyl pressing on Swami featuring 4 bonus cuts. Limited Black vinyl (exclusively through the SWAMI Records store | 350 copies). Splatter vinyl (retail stores | 1600 copies).

Descendents – Milo Goes to College (ORG Music)

Original Release: 1982 | Reissue Date: September 19, 2025 | Format: LP, Multiple Color Variants | Drop the Needle HERE

Why It Matters:
One of punk’s holy texts gets a proper reintroduction. Milo Goes to College remains as melodic, funny, and furious as ever, and this new remaster under ORG restores the analog urgency that inspired generations of bands. The expanded variant lineup also leans into the collectible spirit of modern punk vinyl culture. Reclaimed by the band and lovingly restored, this release marks the beginning of an extensive reissue campaign that will include the band’s foundational albums from their early years, originally released on New Alliance and SST Records.

Collector’s Note:
ORG reissue (9/19/25) with multiple exclusives: Punk Note Silver (Alt Cover) (ORG exclusive | 1000 copies), Suspended Gold (Band Webstore | 1000 copies), Splatter Scene (Red-ish Smoke) (Band Webstore exclusive | 1000 copies), Pink (Zia Records exclusive | 500 copies ), Smoke Show (Clear w/ Black Smoke) (Rough Trade Records exclusive | 500 copies), Statue of Liberty (Green) (Going Underground / Seasick Records exclusive | 500 copies), Black w/ Numbered Obi Strip (Celebrated Summer Records exclusive | 300 copies), and Ocean (Blue) (BrooklynVegan / Alt Press exclusive | 500 copies). Release (Including Punk Note Alt Cover) also available on Black vinyl.

The “Punk Note” edition pictured above comes with alternate packaging artwork from designer John Yates (Stealworks). The artwork is a nod to Reid Miles and Francis Wolff, and their amazing work at the Blue Note label. The case-wrapped jacket includes new liner notes by BrooklynVegan senior editor Andrew Sacher.

The Deadly Ones – It’s Monster Surfing Time (Real Gone Music)

Original Release: 1964 | Reissue Date: October 10, 2025 | Format: All-Analog LP, Multiple Color Variants | Drop the Needle HERE

Why It Matters:
An essential Halloween-surf crossover classic, It’s Monster Surfing Time is back just in time for spooky season. The fuzzed-out reverb and ghoulish charm of this Vee-Jay obscurity sound stunning in Real Gone’s all-analog reissue, restoring its playful energy and vintage punch in glorious mono.

Collector’s Note:
AAA cut from the original tapes. Bloody Pumpkin vinyl (Retail Version | 900 copies), Seaglass Blue with Black “Wipeout” Swirl Vinyl Edition (Real Gone Exclusive | 100 copies), Wax Mage (Real Gone Exclusive | 25 copies), Toxic Moon-light Lagoon (Coke Clear With Yellow Swirl) (Zia Records exclusive | 150 copies) and test-press bundles (15 total).
