Fire Track: Sloan – “Dream Destroyer”

Sloan Return With Fuzzy Anthem “Dream Destroyer” + New Album Out Sept. 26

Just when we thought July couldn’t get any more Sloan-packed, the Canadian legends are back with a brand-new single. “Dream Destroyer” is the second track from their upcoming fourteenth studio album, Based on the Best Seller, landing September 26 on Yep Roc—and it absolutely rips.

Fueled by glammy fuzz, swirling shoegaze textures, and Sloan’s signature hooky charm, “Dream Destroyer” finds Patrick Pentland channeling heartbreak, regret, and rock ‘n’ roll redemption in one tight power-pop punch. It’s messy, melodic, and totally magnetic.

If you caught last month’s Amplified Vault feature on Sloan, you already know their catalog is full of democratic brilliance—four writers, four singers, one unified sound. Based on the Best Seller looks ready to add another chapter to their ever-evolving story, and if this single’s anything to go by, the book’s far from closed.

Catch them on the road this summer and fall as they bring the new tunes (and plenty of classics) to a city near you.
