Eagles Of Death Metal
Death By Sexy
Downtown Records [2006]

Ahh… the side project. It usually gives artists the freedom to step away from their main band, try a new instrument, take over lead vocals—or in Damon Albarn’s case in Gorillaz, become a cartoon monkey. In this case, we’re talking about Josh Homme from Queens of the Stone Age. He and longtime friend Jesse Hughes make up Eagles of Death Metal, and Death By Sexy is their second album.
Here, Homme trades in his usual guitar-and-vocals role to handle drums, while Hughes takes the lead mic. The result? A fun, confident duo that clearly doesn’t care what anyone thinks. Death By Sexy clocks in at just 38 minutes and delivers straight-up garage rock ‘n’ roll—the kind that makes you want to throw your hands up and shake your head to the beat. It’s packed with tight arrangements, solid drumming, and tongue-in-cheek lyrics. If you liked their 2004 debut Peace Love Death Metal, you’ll definitely want to sign up for another round.
