Woods announce a surprise new EP, Five More Flowers, on Woodsist featuring the lead single, “Lay With Luck,” ahead of their tour starting this week with Avey Tare which also includes a stacked bill comprised of Natural Information Society and Laraaji at Knockdown Center in Queens, New York, on Saturday, April 13th. Recorded during the sessions for their 2023 album Perennial, Five More Flowers is another entry revealing the band’s signature form of shimmering, jeweled pop. Hailed by Aquarium Drunkard as “a glowing addition to the ongoing Woods collection,” the sessions producing Perennial and subsequently Five More Flowers grew from a bed of guitar, keyboard, and drum loops by Jeremy Earl, a form of winter night meditation that evolved into an unexplored mode of collaborative songwriting. With Earl’s starting points, he and bandmates Jarvis Taveniere and John Andrews convened, first at Earl’s house in New York, then at Panoramic House studio in Stinson Beach, California, site of sessions for 2020’s Strange To Explain.
