Fire Drill Album Review: In the track “Nights Were Made For Love” off of the new Blitzen Trapper album All Across This Land, lead singer Eric Earley repeats “All I wanna do is rock and roll.” That line captures the band’s goal on their eighth studio album. Each song is propulsive in a classic-rock-kind-of-way (think Neil Young or Bruce Springsteen), which works well on the album’s title track. However, the album as a whole suffers from such sameness and grows wearisome by its end. Yes, Blitzen Trapper rocks and rolls with the confidence and style of the professionals that they are. However, that is not enough to make for an LP that I would recommend as can’t miss.

I appreciate being able to write for The Fire Note, as it gives me an excuse to keep up with what's happening in new music.

By day I am a dad and a psychologist; I often use music as a way to connect with both my kids and my clients. One of my proudest moments as a father was when my 12-year-old daughter told me of her undying love for Radiohead.
