Fire Drill Album Review: Yes, there is definitely something in the water in the San Francisco area that is causing most of the finest garage rock in the world to be produced there. POW! however, is not your typical San Francisco garage rock band, they spin it off into their own psychedelic hybrid on their second album, Fight Fire. Matching crunchy punk guitars with spacy sci-fi synths takes the music into interesting new places. Not content to just push ahead at breakneck speed as on “Eyesight”, POW! also breaks it down and gets weird and spacey on “Blocks of Ice” and “At the Dock”. This is a really cool, weird record, and one that just continues to get better the more time you spend with it!
