Fire Drill Album Review: You always know what you are going to get with Low. The longtime and forever pioneer of the Slowcore movement, Low’s soft intricate and complex compositions will wow you both sonically and vocally. On the group’s eleventh record, Ones and Sixes, vocalists Mimi Parker and Alan Sparhawk once again grab you with every breath on their flawless harmonies and can really make the simplest things intense. That is how Low has stayed successful all of these years. To call their last effort and Jeff Tweedy produced album The Invisible Way a failure is going too far but it was a record that didn’t seem to have much spirit even though it had Low’s sound. At almost 60 minutes, Ones and Sixes is still a slow burn but this time around Low has created one of the liveliest records the band has produced in years. Get your headphones out and let the dice roll!
