The Friday Fire Track: Blackheart Honeymoon – “Bodies”

We always strive to promote self-released music and today’s Fire Track does just that. Seattle’s Blackheart Honeymoon may tell you that they have been influenced by the likes of Johnny Cash, Hank Williams and Gram Parsons, but after one play of “Bodies,” I think you will agree that New Pornographers meets Fleetwood Mac is a fair description.

Like so many other bands, Blackheart Honeymoon has had their struggles to get to this point. After gaining momentum with their 2013 EP, Nothing and Everything Else, half of the band left for other projects. That is enough to end most groups in their tracks but the core members pulled it together and found quality replacements to keep Blackheart Honeymoon moving forward. That has led to the release of their debut full-length, Mountains Speak, on August 7th!

“Bodies” is an easy track to get hooked on with its harmonic lyrics and mid-tempo indie jangle. The group showcases a well-rounded sound on this track as it should only build anticipation for when Mountains Speak hits the streets later this summer.
