Alex Cameron has just released a new single/video, “Miami Memory,” directed by Cameron, and starring himself, his business associate and sax player Roy Molloy and actress Jemima Kirke. A love song to the city, “Miami Memory” embraces the lustful air of Miami and explores both Alex’s personal relationship with both the city and his girlfriend. “Miami Memory” is the first new music Cameron has released since 2017’s Forced Witness.
“‘Miami Memory’ is a story about how we audition in the present for our future selves to enjoy in retrospect. In that way, tender memories that we share together are captured in thought and stored with the same electricity that keeps our heart beating,” says Cameron. “It’s a gift for my girlfriend Jemima, and it is dedicated to the artist Greer Lankton and her partner Paul Monroe. I am lucky to have learned that a group of people can be a shining light.”
Cameron has a fall European and North American tour set up, including shows in Chicago, Toronto, New York and Los Angeles. North American tickets will be on sale this Friday, May 10th at 10am local time. You can find the dates below.

Mannequin Pussy – “Drunk II” [Video]
Philadelphia, PA indie punk band Mannequin Pussy have announced their new album Patience, due June 21 on Epitaph. This is the follow-up to their 2016 release Romantic and the band’s Epitaph debut.
The third full-length from Mannequin Pussy, Patience is an album fascinated with the physical experience of the body, its songs tracking the movements of mouths and hands and racing hearts, skin and spit and teeth and blood. Deeply attuned to the power of their own physicality, members Colins Rey Regisford (bass, samples, vocals), Kaleen Reading (drums, percussion), Marisa Dabice (guitar, vocals), and Athanasios Paul (guitar, keys) channel complex emotion in blistering riffs, thrashing rhythms, vocals that feel as immediate and untamed as a gut reaction. But throughout Patience, the band contrasts that raw vitality with intricate melodies and finely detailed arrangements, building a strange and potent tension that makes the album all the more cathartic. Patience matches Mannequin Pussy’s wild volatility with a narrative voice that’s often painfully vulnerable.
You can now watch the new single/video “Drunk II” from the album Patience, which was directed by Marisa Dabice. Dabice, who directed the video says, “I wanted to capture the feeling that so many of us experience when we are heartbroken and trying to move on. We pretend we have fun so that we are socially acceptable to those around us. We hope that drinking will make us happy and we wish that our nights will lead us into the arms of a beautiful stranger who will momentarily distract us from the pain we feel. I wanted to blend reality and fantasy in the music video for “Drunk II” – where you aren’t quite sure if my character is just out with her bandmates and friends, pitifully crying to them about their lost love or if they are actually meeting those beautiful strangers every night. I wanted to show what it feels like to be out and heartbroken – that no matter where you are it feels like you are the only one with a broken heart. That everyone around you is deeply in love and you are completely alone. That no matter who you meet, you can’t stop thinking about that person who you lost.”
Pre-orders for Patience are available at HERE. Mannequin Pussy is on the road with Hot Snakes through May 4 in Jersey City. Tour dates below.

Records.
“Into The Iris” is a frenzied, high-energy track about channeling inspiration. The video was recorded at their record release show at Zebulon in Los Angeles, and presents the band’s frenetic live performance. Directed by Joshua Erkman, the video also features lighting tricks by Ty Segall.

CHAI – “Curly Adventure” [Video]
CHAI – the Japanese four-piece has shared a new video for “Curly Adventure,” off of PUNK, their sophomore album released on Burger Records earlier this month. “Curly Adventure” follows a string of previously released videos – the hyper-stylized “CHOOSE GO!”, “Fashionista”, and “GREAT JOB!”
The “Curly Adventure” video was designed in collaboration with Los Angeles-based artist / musician Sean Solomon. In a swirl of vibrant colors and eccentric scenes, CHAI themselves star as animated characters, designed by the band’s primary artistic director and bassist, YUUKI, and realized and animated by LA-based artist/animator Sean Solomon.
You can pick up their sophomore album at Burger Records HERE.
Flaural – “1616” [Video]
Denver-based four-piece Flaural is set to release their debut LP, Postponement, which is due out April 19, 2019 via Staycation Records. Following a string of EPs — 2015’s Thin King and 2016’s Over Imaginary Cigarettes — and produced by James Barone (Beach House, Tennis), Flaural’s Postponement developed over a trying three years for the experimental rock band.
The video for “1616” follows the early release of the album’s lead single, “The Thinker.” They go on to say, “When you know its backstory, what initially comes across like a catchy freakout takes on more weight; an underlying sadness becomes more prominent, the waves of layered instruments starting to feel like an escape towards the inner recesses of a person’s mind as they try to reckon with what has happened while they grasp at memories dissolving over time.” The upbeat, emotional track ends with a dark, hectic, instrumental frenzy of piercing baritone saxophone squeaks layered over sporadic, aggressive guitar and driving drums.
Wand – “Walkie Talkie” [Video]
Wand’s upcoming fifth full-length, Laughing Matter, is out April 19th via Drag City Records. The record is said to be an evolution in the life of a band who’ve grown ecstatically since their debut.
For a sample of these new reaches in the Wand-iverse, look no further than “Walkie Talkie”, the new single and latest video from Laughing Matter! Lookin’ like it might’ve beamed in directly from sideways post-punk pastward futures, “Walkie Talkie” shines brightly with the reflective sheen of Wand’s modern flicker. Muted neon colors swallow seething imagery as Lee Landey and Evan Burrows’ emphatic rhythm section slams into Cory Hanson and Robbie Cody’s screaming guitars, whilst Sofia Arrequin’s warped Morse keyboards sew the song together at the edges.
You can pre-order the record HERE and check out the Wand’s extensive tour dates below.

King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard – “Fishing For Fishies” [Video]
King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard return on Friday April 26th 2019 with Fishing for Fishies. Released on Flightless Records world-wide, the band have shared their latest Jason Galea directed video to the album’s title track, Fishing For Fishies.
The fourteenth album since their 2012 debut – and their first following the release of five vastly different albums in 2017 – Fishing for Fishies is a blues-infused blast of sonic boogie that struts and shimmies through several moods and terrains. From the soft shuffle Outback country of the opening title track through the sunny easy listening of ‘The Bird Song’ (think the lysergically-soaked Laurel Canyon circa 1973) and on through the party funk of ‘Plastic Boogie’ (which somehow summons the spirit of Stevie Wonder’s Innervisions) the road-trucking, Doors-like highway rock of ‘The Cruel Millennial’ and ‘Real’s Not Real’ – it’s a dizzying, dazzling display which addresses a number of pertinent environmental issues along the way.
“We tried to make a blues record,” says frontman Stu Mackenzie. “A blues-boogie-shuffle-kinda-thing, but the songs kept fighting it – or maybe it was us fighting them. Ultimately though we let the songs guide us this time; we let them have their own personalities and forge their own path. Paths of light, paths of darkness. This is a collection of songs that went on wild journeys of transformation.”
The Get Up Kids – Satellite [Video]
After releasing their Kicker EP in the summer of 2018, The Get Up Kids have returned with a new full-length album, Problems – their first since 2011’s There Are Rules.
Recorded with Grammy award-winning producer, Peter Katis (The National, Kurt Vile, Japandroids), Problems sees the band leaning further into their strengths and channeling them into 12 songs that showcase the Kansas 5-piece at their most melodic, refined, and inspired.
You can pre-order Problems now from the Polyvinyl Store HERE.
Amyl And The Sniffers – “Monsoon Rock” [Video]
Amyl and the Sniffers announced today that their debut album will be released on May 24th. Check out the first track from the album, “Monsoon Rock”, out now on ATO (North America), Rough Trade (UK/Europe) and Flightless Records (Australia & New Zealand).
The band said of the new track, “”Monsoon Rock” is just a song to rage to, it celebrates good gigs and live music. We wrote it around the time of Gizzfest 2017 when it was pissing down with rain but everybody still got into it – just muddier and wetter and real feral. We ran out of time to make a video and it’s always fun making funny shit. If you don’t have a sense of humor and can’t laugh, what’s the point of being alive?”
Amyl and The Sniffers will appear at SXSW this month prior to embarking on a headline West Coast tour in March including the Bootleg Theater in LA. After those dates they will head to the UK and Europe, and then come back to North America in July for another headline run (all dates below).

Ben Kweller – “Heart Attack Kid” [Video]
Ben Kweller has released his first new song in five years, “Heart Attack Kid,” and is now available via a video he made in collaboration with Robert Strange of Superorganism.
“Making the Heart Attack Kid music video with Ben Kweller was the first big project I’ve done outside of my band, Superorganism,” says Strange. “Stylistically, I wanted to take a step in a new direction while making the video true to who Ben is and the world he lives in. Ben shot the live action stuff on his ranch in Texas and I meshed that together with the story of a claymation rattlesnake who hears Heart Attack Kid floating on the breeze and sets off on a mission to find the source. It was great collaborating with Ben — he’s got so much energy and has a really special thing going on at his label The Noise Company. We were chatting pretty much every day, passing ideas back and forth and fine-tuning the video. I learned a lot making this video and together we ended up making a piece of art that I’ll always be extremely proud of.”
Kweller has been on tour this past week and will continue through the end of the month. The remaining dates are below. Information on his new album will be released soon.

Video Premiere: Jess McAvoy – “Do What You Want”
Happy Valentine’s Day Fire Note readers! Let us introduce you to the talented singer/songwriter Jess McAvoy. The video premiere today for her new song, “Do What You Want,” is the perfect play for a day where there is so much pressure to be a certain way, buy specific things and maybe even take things a bit too serious.
“Do What You Want” is about finding two people in a relationship, just for the enjoyment of each other’s company. It’s ok to live in the moment and feel good today no matter where it might eventually lead. These are great tips to remember on Valentine’s Day.
It also helps that the message comes in the form of McAvoy’s catchy bluesy vocals as “Do What You Want” sways with its guitar swagger structure. Jess really says it best when she sings “there’s only this moment, don’t you want to own it.”
Well, TFN hopes you enjoy your day and make sure you share this video with all your serious friends! If you live in the area, you can also check out Jess McAvoy live on March 1st in Los Angeles at The Study. More info on Jess McAvoy can be found at the links below.

Helenor – “Artifact” [Video]
Helenor, the project of David DiAngelis, has just released a new video for “Artifact.” With its artful synchronized swimming and subjects that blend in with their surroundings, the video and bright indie rock juxtapose well with frigid winter temperatures. DiAngelis both stars and co-directed the video for “Artifact,” bringing his talents and passion for visual arts to his newfound musical project.
Yak – “Fried” [Video]
London trio Yak have shared the video for “Fried” from their their sophomore album Pursuit of Momentary Happiness, which is out tomorrow via Third Man Records / Virgin EMI. The video, which features frontman Oli Burslem as the co-host of a demented faux cooking show. In fact, we may not be able to eat fried chicken for awhile after this show!
The creation of Pursuit of Momentary Happiness saw frontman Oli Burslem stand on the precipice between obsession and self-destruction. He sacrificed everything for his artistic vision, including his own financial security and mental health. Who invests every last penny into recording, to the point where they become homeless?
Yak had blazed a trail through the indie rock scene with their debut album Alas Salvation and ended that era of their career with a landmark show at London’s Scala. Burslem and drummer Elliot Rawson were eager to make a second record, but bassist Andy Jones departed for a new life in Australia. A chance meeting with Jay Watson from Tame Impala’s touring band resulted in Burslem hatching a plan to rehearse together in Melbourne before quickly recording the album at Tame mainman Kevin Parker’s studio in Perth — with Burslem stopping in Tokyo to focus on writing.
It didn’t work out. Burslem returned to the UK with no home, no money and no album. 18 hazy months passed, during which Yak found their new bassist Vinny Davies and then a fresh focus. Yak were introduced to Spiritualized chief Jason Pierce through his bandmate John Coxon, and Pierce encouraged them that they still had something worth pursuing. That resulted in new deals with Third Man Records and Virgin EMI, and Burslem committed to sorting out his personal situation… just as soon as he’d finished the album.
Charly Bliss – “Capacity” [Video]
NYC’s Charly Bliss return with their sophomore album, Young Enough, out May 10 via Barsuk Records. This video for its lead single “Capacity” is the first taste of new material.
Charly Bliss’ Eva Hendricks says “‘Capacity’ is a song about wanting to kill your inner people-pleaser, and Michelle beautifully presented a parallel concept, which warns of the perils of getting swept up in other people’s bullshit.”
Video director Michelle Zauner of Japanese Breakfast, says: “Charly Bliss has always made great narrative music videos, so I wanted to stay in line with that tradition and take advantage of working with a band that are all such great, funny actors individually. I was watching a lot of heist movies at the time, and I thought a sort of post-heist fall out between friends was the perfect setting for this song about reaching your limit with someone. Eva had an amazing mood board she brought to the table with references to Paris, Texas, Five Easy Pieces and Badlands so it was important for us to showcase a warm, 70’s colour palette.”
Additionally, Charly Bliss has announced some tour dates including an east coast run in March and a European run in May. All dates below.
