“AFI haven’t stopped reinventing themselves—and “Holy Visions” proves they’re still finding new ways to haunt and thrill.“
AFI are back with another glimpse into their twelfth album, Silver Bleeds the Black Sun…, out October 3rd on Run For Cover Records. The latest single, “Holy Visions,” lands with a sleek video directed by Gilbert Trejo, who drenches the band in glowing pink and blue light. Vocalist Davey Havok calls it “the perfect visual sublimation of the song,” and it’s hard to disagree—it’s moody, cinematic, and quintessentially AFI while still exploring new territory.
After more than 30 years of shapeshifting through hardcore, punk, goth, and alt-rock phases, AFI are once again cracking open a new chapter. Silver Bleeds the Black Sun… leans into the band’s more atmospheric instincts, chasing a sound that’s dreamlike, shadowy, and strangely timeless. It’s lush but cutting, familiar yet unexpected—classic AFI, but reimagined through a different lens.
Alongside “Holy Visions,” the album will feature the earlier single “Behind the Clock,” also brought to life with a Trejo-directed video. Together, they set the tone for a record that thrives on contrast: grand but intimate, sharp but hypnotic.
