Prewn Bites Back with “Dirty Dog”

Izzy Hagerup, aka Prewn, is back in the spotlight with “Dirty Dog,” the second single off her upcoming album System (out October 3 via Exploding In Sound). The track creeps in with a murky, snarling riff before unraveling into an eerie, almost cinematic finale. Midway through, the fidelity flips on its head—like waking from a dream into a fever.

“Dirty Dog” isn’t just another breakup song—it’s a twisted character sketch set in a subconscious funhouse. As Prewn puts it, it’s about “a self-serving man who ditched his needy mother and comes crawling back too late.” The video, directed by Christie Clause and Chris Bugnacki, matches that haunted energy with a surreal visual edge.

The single follows the title track “System,” which already picked up praise several media outlets. Like her 2023 debut Through The Window, this new record was written, performed, and recorded entirely by Hagerup herself. But this time, the mood digs deeper into late-night headspace—songs born from insomnia, self-reflection, and those weird hours when the birds start singing and your brain won’t shut off.

System isn’t all gloom, though. For all its shadowy corners, the album has flashes of humor and lightness, like someone cracking a joke in the middle of an existential spiral. It’s a diary cracked wide open, and Hagerup doesn’t flinch from letting you read every messy page.

You can pre-order the album now.
