ROCKET – “Wide Awake” (Official Video)
Rocket are back and ready to launch with their new single “Wide Awake”—a sharp, fuzzed-out anthem that kicks off a bold new era. The track comes blazing in as the first taste of R is for Rocket, the band’s long-awaited debut full-length, dropping October 3rd via Transgressive Records / Canvasback.
Fronted by the magnetic Alithea Tuttle, Rocket fuse slacker cool with jagged guitars and sugary vocal hooks. “Wide Awake” showcases everything that makes them great: punchy riffs, dreamy harmonies, and that emotional spark that feels both urgent and nostalgic. It’s the kind of song that sticks after one spin, but opens up even more after five.
The LA quartet—Tuttle (vocals/bass), Baron Rinzler (guitar), Desi Scaglione (guitar), and Cooper Ladomade (drums)—started out jamming in a backyard shed and are now opening for The Smashing Pumpkins. They’ve toured with Ride, Sunny Day Real Estate, and Silversun Pickups, sharpened their sound on festival stages around the world, and honed their chops in between sweaty club shows and late-night writing sessions.
With R is for Rocket, they’re leveling up. The record balances explosive alt-rock energy with moments of vulnerability and introspection—tracking at both Studio 606 (for the bangers) and 64 Sound (for the softer glows). It’s got the sonic bite of Sonic Youth and the melodic pull of Momma, but Rocket carve their own lane with charisma and big-hearted songwriting.
They’ve also reissued their buzzed-about Versions of You EP on vinyl and CD, with early cuts like “Crossing Fingers,” “One Million,” and “Take Your Aim” now officially part of their growing catalog.
