Simplistic splendor is one way to describe the sophomore full-length album, Days, from New Jersey’s Real Estate. The album possesses a pure flow that carries the listener seamlessly from track to track, anchored by the soft vocal delivery of singer/guitarist Martin Courtney. His voice engages in an internal struggle with the surrounding music, but it’s a conflict that ultimately favors Real Estate. With no dominating factors, Days emerges stronger.

The band had already produced an excellent debut, but with Days, Real Estate not only avoids the sophomore slump but also surpasses their initial record. The album feels tighter, more refined, and brimming with graceful pop gems. Real Estate consistently provides memorable rhythms combined with circular riffs, allowing each track to stand alone regardless of time or tempo. It’s this timeless appeal that ultimately prevails.

The catchy “It’s Real” clocks in at a succinct 2:49 but delivers its essence entirely, while the equally engaging closer, “All The Same,” surpasses the 7-minute mark. Its last 4 instrumental minutes showcase the band’s intricate guitar work, fading into the sunset. It’s a perfect conclusion to a nearly perfect album – Real Estate has crafted another exceptional piece.
