Fire Drill Album Review: Surprise, gratitude and free sum up the Foo Fighters latest EP Saint Cecilia. As a thank you to the fans and without warning, the Foo’s released this free download EP last week (with a pay vinyl option) to their continually growing fan base. Right now, I would say that Dave Grohl and the Foo Fighters are the essential rock band. It just seems like if it is the cool thing to do – the Foo Fighters are there. With that said, I have heard plenty of “free” rock that is simply terrible. Saint Cecilia is not that by any means. It is a bit all over the place as you get a quick serving of everything Foo which for fans, won’t be a problem. In fact, I really liked the fast speed punk of “Savior Breath” which is as hardcore as you will probably ever hear this band at this point in their career. Most of the other songs fall into the standard hook filled song structures that we are familiar with that are differentiated by tempo. Hey for free – Saint Cecilia is a win!
