The Friday Fire Track: Hoops – “Rules”

| | , ,

Bloomington, Indiana four-piece Hoops instantly grabbed my ear with their debut single “Rules.” The Friday Fire Track has the modern flare of DIIV and EZTV but the classic 80’s vibe of The Cleaners From Venus. Basically, a must listen for me with that type of sound. Hidden power-pop chords are the key as this melodic mix keeps your foot tapping with the very rhythmic drum pace. “Rules” has a feverish tempo and keeps you a bit on edge as the line “I know I’m breaking all the rules” just effortlessly flows out.

Hoops’ full-length debut, Routines, is going to hit the streets on May 5th via Fat Possum Records. The band also has a tour already set throughout North America and the U.K., including stops at SXSW, Sasquatch, Shaky Knees Festival, Noise Pop Festival and Savannah Stopover. You can check the current schedule below. Enjoy your Friday!
