If you are like me, you have a long history with Hayden. If you are old enough you probably remember all the buzz that came along with his 1996 debut record, Everything I Long For, as its rootsy and solitary post-punk put him on the map. Fast forward to 2015, and the Canadian lo-fi folkster is set to release his eighth full-length record, Hey Love, on March 24th via Arts & Crafts.
That brings us to our Fire track today and in the spirit of Valentine’s Day tomorrow, Hayden’s new track, “Hey Love” is a deserving fit. With its steady pedal steel backdrop, the track both steps forward and holds back as Hayden’s vocals take you on a complicated relationship journey. The track most likely will connect when Hayden puts all of his emotion behind the lines, “But without this love, there would be no reason for either of us” and you get some clarity of what is important.
As always – enjoy the weekend and let Hayden kick it off with “Hey Love” below.
