London-based trio Doe is made up of Nicola Leel (vocals/guitar), Matt Sykes (guitar), and Jake Popyura (drums.) The group formed in 2013 and put out a handful of singles & EPs. That work has developed into their debut record, First Four, that will see its North American release on February 24th via Old Flame Records.
Today’s fire track, “Oh, Nostalgia!,” will give you a good overall look into Doe’s sound. The group will instantly remind you of 90’s alt rock explosion artists such as The Breeders, The Muffs, That Dog. and Helium plus a few more under the radar groups like Sincola and Cub.
For me that is all you had to say, as Leel’s voice is instantly appealing. She shows off her vocal control here when she lashes out quickly into higher ranges as the slightly fuzzy guitar rolls in the background. This energy pulses through the song. “Oh, Nostalgia!” is where the pop meets the grind and Doe is born! Enjoy the track below.
