TFN is excited today to premiere a brand new track from Dayton, Ohio punks – The Raging Nathans! “This World” is the closing tune from their forthcoming fifth album, Still Spitting Blood, which is due out on January 19th via Rad Girlfriend Records and in the U.K. through Brassneck Records (pre-order links below). The album was recorded by The Copyrights’ Luke McNeil, and it offers up 10 songs in roughly 20 minutes.
The Raging Nathans formed in 2009, so this now veteran act flexes their punk skills on this track that highlights how most of us felt at some point during the pandemic when they harmonize “we’re all alone in this world!” The group has a very classic SoCal vibe and could easily share a bill with Bad Religion, Descendents, and Face to Face. This tight execution is a quick easy hit to hear and everything you want in a punk rock song!
“I wrote ‘This World’ in the middle of the pandemic. It’s kind of a continuation of the themes from the last record, Waste My Heart. I was feeling frustrated with how things were being handled and it became very apparent that people are only viewed as tools to fuel the economy under capitalism. The powers that be don’t care about you and we are all alone. It’s a very bleak song.”
