TFN is excited today to bring you an advanced stream of the self-titled debut album from Los Angeles-based indie rock band Near Beer. Near Beer is a trio consisting of members Joey Siara (vocals, guitar), Brent Stranathan (drums), and Jeremy Levy (bass, backup vocals) that represents everything good about being in a band. You can immediately hear the band’s love of music and friendship as it features an anthemic blitzkrieg of hooks and indie guitar frenzies. The group has the fire of The Gaslight Anthem combined with the brash explosiveness of Japandroids while still having roots in the classic rock of Petty and Springsteen.
I think Siara puts it best when he states: “Our music’s often a push-pull between keeping stuff loose and succumbing to our maximalist tendencies. There are days where I want to channel Bee Thousand and days where I want to do Born to Run.”
That is a perfect summary of Near Beer so make sure to give the stream a spin, turn it up, think about why you love indie music and then add this band permanently to your playlist! The album is out tomorrow via Double Helix Records and can be ordered at the links below.
