Paul Orwell Organized Blues LP – 50 Blue / 350 Black

Paul Orwell is a singer / songwriter from Essex who has great old school sound talent which we loved on his full length debut Blowing Your Mind Away. His new record is an Instru’MENTAL’ album titled ORGANIZED BLUES which will go up on Pre-Order today.

As most Heavy Soul Records release the album is a vinyl only release on heavy wax with only 400 pressed. 350 BLACK VINYL and a very limited 50 BLUE VINYL. His output typically sells fast so don’t delay and look HERE for a copy after 4 PM est today.

Just to get a taste we also included Orwell’s new video for “DON’T DO AS I DO, JUST DO AS I SAY!”

Dinosaur Jr. – “Tiny” [Video]

Dinosaur Jr. has shared the first video off their new record, Give A Glimpse Of What Yer Not, which is out August 5th via Jagjaguwar. If you are a fan, I think the song and his skateboarding bulldog, Beefy, is all you need to know!

Video Premiere: American Monoxide – “Sciatic Nerve”

We have the perfect video premiere today for our TFN readers that love music which lives on the edge. Tucson, Arizona’s American Monoxide brings you a lo-tech spastic jam called “Sciatic Nerve,” which will instantly get into your head with its groove and repetitive spoken title.

American Monoxide is actually the solo home recordings of Dimitri Manos. He is hard to place in one genre and offers mostly instrumental mixes which range from dance to trash to noise to novelty. The entire record is a fascinating listen but I think this video spotlights his focus and why you should check out American Monoxide!

“Sciatic Nerve” sticks with you visually as it feels like the alternate universe version to the Beastie’s “Sabotage.” It has a lot going on for only running 1:30 and that’s what makes it fun. What’s in the bag? Why is he smoking a cigarette now? Why did he just throw his hat? All questions with no answers – I guess you just need to enjoy the track and let your mind fill in the blanks!

Moonface And Siinai – Risto’s Riff [Video]

Spencer Krug’s Moonface and Siinai’s new album, My Best Human Face, is out now on Jagjaguwar. The lead single, “Risto’s Riff,” gets a visual treatment here from director Marsha Balaeva with design assistance from Tamsin Rose Creations. Watch as creatures come to life seemingly out of nowhere in the video. It’s as chaotic and perfect as the song itself. Check it out.

Yak – “Use Somebody” [Video]

Yak released their excellent debut album Alas Salvation last month and now have a video for new single “Use Somebody.” The video was directed by Douglas Hart of The Jesus and Mary Chain, and features the band in a high-speed, crash-strewn chase around London in a hearse recently purchased by frontman Oli Burslem. Enjoy!

Shrug – “Radio Madonna” [Video]

If there ever was a band that I thought would break out of Dayton, Ohio it was Shrug. Mainstays on the local circuit back in the mid-90’s the group released several quality records but never quite broke through to the bigger audience they deserved. It has been ten years since the band released a new record although its members have stayed busy in some recent groups TFN has featured here that include The Motel Beds, Human Cannonball, and The Boxcar Suite.

Well, the guys are back with their fifth long player titled Age of Ashes, which is set to release June 11th. “Radio Madonna” is the first track and video from the album and really finds the group getting back to their roots! If you enjoy the song you can also snag a free download of the single from their Bandcamp page until the album’s release.

Twin Peaks – “Butterfly” [Video]

Twin Peaks released their new record, Down In Heaven, today along with a new video for the song “Butterfly.” The video was clearly inspired in part by the acid trip scene in Easy Rider, and directed by Ezra Ewen.

Following a Chicago kick-off tonight, the band is hitting the road, with both headline dates and gigs supporting Cage The Elephant on a leg of arena shows. Check out the dates below.

Bonnie ‘Prince’ Billy – “A Dream Of The Sea” [Video]

Originally released exclusively on limited edition CD in the pre-MP3 era, More Revery was gone before iTunes existed, and has not been available in any format since. On the occasion of the 20th anniversary of Temporary Residence Ltd., they are putting the album out expanded to include an alternate version of the entire album!

Radiohead – “Burn The Witch” [Video]

Ever since all Radiohead social media went dark, along with “Burn The Witch” flyers being passed out, speculation on new music from the band has been flying around. Well the wait is over!

“Burn The Witch” is the new track and video. It will be available on all digital services tomorrow May 4th. It is a nice taste of what is to come as we now wait on the full album release news!

Beth Orton – “1973” [Video]

Beth Orton has went back to her roots on her new album, Kidsticks, as it was inspired both by the wide-open nature of Los Angeles and the spirit of Beth’s earliest recordings (electronic work with producers like William Orbit, Andrew Weatherall and Kieran Hebden as well as groove-based music with Red Snapper).

Kidsticks was co-produced by Beth and Andrew Hung from F*ck Buttons. It was recorded with various musician friends of Beth’s in California (including George Lewis Jr. from Twin Shadow on electric guitars, Grizzly Bear’s Chris Taylor on backing vocals and bass guitar and Dustin O’Halloran from A Winged Victory for the Sullen who provided piano and string arrangements). Vocals were recorded by Alain Johannes (Queens of the Stone Age/Mark Lanagan Band) and mixed by David Wrench (Caribou/Hot Chip).

Whitney – “Golden Days” [Video]

We just featured a review of the solo debut from former Smith Westerns frontman Cullen Omori a few days ago. Now you can catch up with Max Kakacek and Julian Ehrlich – both formerly of Smith Westerns – and their new band Whitney.

“Golden Days” is their swaying new catchy single and video from the forthcoming Secretly Canadian debut Light Upon The Lake that is due out June 3rd. If you were a fan of the Smith Westerns, I think both projects will fill your void!

Sturgill Simpson – “In Bloom” [Video]

“In Bloom” is the second song released from Sturgill Simpson’s anticipated new album, A Sailor’s Guide To Earth, which will be released April 15 on Atlantic Records. Produced by Simpson, A Sailor’s Guide To Earth was written—beginning to end—as a letter to his first child, who arrived during the summer of 2014, and features eight original songs as well as “In Bloom.”

PJ Harvey – “The Community Of Hope” [Video]

“The Community of Hope” video was directed by award-winning photojournalist and filmmaker Seamus Murphy, drawing on footage filmed during trips to Washington, D.C. undertaken by Harvey and Murphy. This is the second single taken from PJ Harvey’s forthcoming album The Hope Six Demolition Project, out April 15th on Vagrant Records.

PJ Harvey and her 10-piece band will perform a number of festival dates across Europe this summer, including London’s Field Day on Sunday 12th June, and a return to Glastonbury on Sunday 26th June, twelve years after her last appearance at Worthy Farm.

King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard – “Gamma Knife” [Video]

“Nonagon infinity opens the door,” sings Stu Mackenzie, frontman of Australian psych-rockers King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard. It turns out, though, that once the door’s open, it never closes. That’s because the Melbourne septet has ingeniously crafted what may be the world’s first infinitely looping LP.

Each of the nine tracks on Nonagon Infinity seamlessly flows into the next, with the final song linking straight back into the top of the opener. One watch of the video will even make you dizzy as King Gizzard turn you around and around!

New album drops April 29th and currently there are at least four vinyl variants depending on the continent. You can pre-order HERE.

Bleached – “Wednesday Night Melody” [Video]

Here is the newest Bleached video for their single, “Wednesday Night Melody,” from their forthcoming album, Welcome The Worms, out April 1st on Dead Oceans. The video depicts Bleached band members, Jessie Clavin and Micayla Grace, coming home to find their lead singer, Jennifer Clavin, dead. But the band has an important gig that night at renowned L.A. rock club, The Smell, and the show must go on!

Nada Surf: “Rushing” [Video]

White Lung – “Hungry” [Video]

White Lung are are back and have shared an excellent new video for first single “Hungry”, which was written by Mish Barber-Way and Justin Gradin, directed by Gradin. “Hungry” stars Amber Tamblyn (Sisterhood Of The Traveling Pants, The Ring), members from Deafheaven and also Deap Vally.

Their new record, Paradise, is out May 6th via Domino and this time around White Lung have teamed up with producer Lars Stalfors who is well known for his work with HEALTH, Alice Glass, Cold War Kids. At 28 minutes it should be another speaker raising record!

Jon Patrick Walker – “Hideous Monster” [Video]

Jon Patrick Walker has a professional resume that most people can only dream about with credits that include film, television and on- and off-Broadway shows. That only gives you some idea that he has talent and should give you cofidence that his singer/songwriter qualities can meet the expectations.

The video for his single, “Hideous Monster” will put your ears at ease with its folk/rock blend that is both smooth like Ron Sexsmith while having the edge of Ryan Adams. It won’t surprise you that Walker’s influences include the Beatles, Paul Simon, The Who and Harry Nilsson.

“Hideous Monster” is from his forthcoming self-released sophomore record, People Going Somewhere, and is due out March 11. The lyric video gives you all the insight you need into the track as I really dig the emphasis on the lines “Don’t speak – if you’ve got nothing to say / Don’t creep / No don’t be creeping my way / Don’t love / Or don’t love me like that / YOU’RE USING MEEEE.” If you like this track, I think you will enjoy the full length so make sure to look Walker up.

Museyroom – “Ballad” [Video]

Here is a new video from psych pop trio Museyroom. It is for the single “Ballad” taken from the band’s new full length debut, Pearly Whites (due out March 25th via Grind Select).

Black Mountain – “Mothers Of The Sun” [Video]

Black Mountain has returned with the thunderous “Mothers of the Sun,” video. The debut single off their forthcoming album, IV (out 4/1 on Jagjaguwar) comes to us in this wild video, one replete with a four-armed Stephen McBean, a ceremonial dagger, prisoners bound in chains, and too many expressions of insanity to list here.

Also don’t bail too early as this track is a slow burner and at about the 3:29 moment you will know what I mean. Check out Black Mountain’s upcoming tour dates below.
