WHITNEY DROP NEW SINGLE “DANDELIONS” + ANNOUNCE NEW ALBUM SMALL TALK
Whitney are back—and they’ve got stories to tell. The Chicago duo just announced their fourth LP, Small Talk, landing November 7 via AWAL. To kick things off, they’ve shared a shimmering new single, “Dandelions,” a bittersweet anthem that pairs Julien Ehrlich’s fragile falsetto with warm horns, swooning strings, and Max Kakacek’s aching slide guitar. It’s everything we love about Whitney—soulful, melodic, and quietly gutting.
Written after both bandmates went through sudden breakups and cross-country moves that never quite stuck, “Dandelions” captures that moment when the dream unravels and reality gently sets in. Ehrlich says it best: it’s about “a big city hopeful who gets chewed up and spit back out into the heartland.”
The track follows “Darling,” a sneak peek released earlier this summer. Small Talk was recorded in the summer of 2024 with no outside producer—just Ehrlich, Kakacek, and a few friends dropping in. The result is eleven tracks that feel both familiar and fresh, mixing their trademark warmth with new textures and songwriting depth.
The LP will be available on limited “Crimson Moon” and “Bone” vinyl—pre-orders are up now at whitneytheband.com.
Whitney also hit the road this week for a headlining run across North America, joined by Folk Bitch Trio, after a run of amphitheater shows supporting Caamp. Check the dates below and catch them live while you can.
