Wednesday – “Pick Up That Knife” [Video]

Wednesday Unleash Grimy New Ripper “Pick Up That Knife” From Upcoming Album Bleeds

North Carolina rockers Wednesday are back swinging with another distorted haymaker. Their latest single, “Pick Up That Knife,” is out now with a chaotic new video that matches the song’s rowdy energy. It’s the third preview from their much-hyped new LP, Bleeds, landing September 19 via Dead Oceans.

According to singer Karly Hartzman, the track spills out of a place of emotional burnout—when even tiny hiccups feel massive. But in classic Wednesday fashion, the heaviness is laced with humor, including a vivid image of their pedal steel player Xandy barfing in a Death Grips mosh pit. We’ve all been there… sort of.

“Pick Up That Knife” follows “Elderberry Wine” and “Wound Up Here (By Holdin On),” two songs that already lit up mid-year Best Of lists. Oh yeah—they also crushed it on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.

Bleeds builds on what Rat Saw God started, packing even more of the band’s wild blend of country storytelling, heavy fuzz, and pedal steel swoon into tighter, sharper shapes. It’s loud, literary, and rooted in the weird truths of everyday life. Produced again by Alex Farrar at Drop of Sun, the album was shaped by the relentless touring that’s turned Wednesday into one of indie rock’s most essential live bands.
