Sometimes projects just take a long time to come together. In the mid 90s, Mike Stinson and Johnny Irion lived and wrote songs in an old farmhouse behind a rehearsal studio called The Alley. Their friend, the late Andy Butler-Jones of the prog band Bigelf, also contributed to the songwriting process as he was inspired by their Americana rock they had brewing. For many reasons and other commitments, the music never made it to the public until now as we fast-forward twenty-five years and the duo of Mike Stinson and Johnny Irion will release Working My Way Down on March 24th via Blackwing Music.
Today’s video premiere of “The Bottle and Me” is the latest track from the forthcoming album. You can hear the duo’s Americana heartland sound that has the right amount of life grit added to their memorable harmonies. You can tell from the video how much fun these guys have making music together and their style could easily fit on stage with the likes of Lucero, Drive-By Truckers and Slobberbone to just name a few. Stinson and Irion currently have a few dates playing out listed below with the assumption that more will be coming as we approach the March 24th release of their new album.
