“The kind of song that lingers like smoke after the flame’s gone out.”
Lost Friend’s new video feels like it was pulled from a rainy dream—and it hits just right. “Next Year, Saint Peter” is the first glimpse of The Promises You Don’t Keep EP, the latest release from Yellow Springs, Ohio songwriter Christopher Palassis (aka Gigi Palassis of XL427, Second Best, and the short-lived L’Albatros).
With brooding vocals, a steady pulse, and an atmospheric swirl, the track echoes the moody drama of The Psychedelic Furs and Peter Murphy’s solo work, but it stays grounded in raw emotion and sharp songwriting. Andy Ingram contributes drums, keys, and harmonies, while the EP is dedicated to Palassis’ late sister and bandmate, Irene Queen.
The video is hypnotic and slightly surreal—less a narrative, more a visual tone poem that gives the song room to breathe. If you’ve ever wanted a soundtrack for your late-night introspection, start here. The Promises You Don’t Keep is out May 23 on Poptek Records.
