“A sonic storm of raw emotion and relentless energy—Hauntu makes their mark.” – The Fire Note

We’re thrilled to premiere the latest video from San Diego’s Hauntu, “Crooked Teeth,” the second single from their upcoming full-length album. Dark, heavy, and unflinchingly real, “Crooked Teeth” explores the toxic tendencies of narcissistic and abusive individuals. Vocalist Rebecca Antuña explains, “It felt very empowering to roll all these people into one giant super-narcissist and write a song about it. ‘It’s not about you,’ but again, maybe it is, and ‘I bet you’re unaware.’”

Hauntu’s sound is a visceral blend of metal, goth, and garage rock, with fast, downstroked guitars inspired by bands like Wipers and Hot Snakes. Layered over this sonic aggression are Rebecca’s lush and melodic vocals, adding a striking and unexpected contrast. This unique combination sets Hauntu apart, making their music immediate, dangerous, and impossible to ignore.

The video for “Crooked Teeth,” directed by RC Krueger, draws inspiration from John Cassavetes’ Opening Night while channeling the surreal energy of The Butthole Surfers’ “Pepper” and Die Antwoord’s “I Fink U Freeky.” The result is a striking contrast of glamour and raw imperfection, mirroring the song’s exploration of outward charm masking inner toxicity.

Featuring members from bands like Holy Tears, Island of Thieves, and Sleeping Ghost, Hauntu is no stranger to reinvention and evolution. With “Crooked Teeth,” they’ve created something fresh and unforgettable. Prepare to feel the impact—this is music that doesn’t just play; it leaves a mark.
