Snail Mail is back. Lindsey Jordan has announced her third album, Ricochet, out March 27 via Matador Records, and she’s leading with the new single “Dead End.” It’s her first full length in five years, and it finds Jordan sounding focused, clear eyed, and fully in command.
Where Lush captured the blur of young love and Valentine wore its emotions on its sleeve, Ricochet zooms out. These songs sit with time, loss, and the quiet panic that comes from realizing even the best moments don’t last. There’s tension and reflection here, but also a growing sense of peace with things you can’t control.
“Dead End” sets the tone right away. Built on hazy guitars, a sharp lead line, and a hook that sticks hard, the song looks back on suburban restlessness and late night boredom with equal parts warmth and ache. It slowly tightens before bursting into a big, shout it out finish that feels tailor made for packed rooms.
Sonically, Ricochet opens up Snail Mail’s world. The guitars still cut, but they’re paired with broader melodies, subtle strings, and a soft glow pulled from 90s alternative rock. Jordan’s voice sounds steadier and more confident than ever, a fitting contrast for a record that stares straight at uncertainty and keeps moving anyway.
