Heart of Pine, formed in 2015 in Athens, GA by Steven Bagwell and Travis Richardson, is known for their “Southedelic” sound—a blend of classic rock, blues, country, jam, Americana, and funk. Influenced by artists like The Allman Brothers Band and Lynyrd Skynyrd, they’ve shared stages with acts such as the Turnpike Troubadours and Corey Smith. The band has since expanded to include Jesse Fountain, Boone Hood, and Todd Headley, which has further enriched their sound. Heart of Pine has released their second full-length studio album, Southern Soul Revival, today, continuing their tradition of heartfelt and innovative music.
“Movin’ On” is a track from the new album that explores themes of growth, self-discovery, and the complexity of relationships. The song starts as a slow ballad, with gentle piano and guitar setting a melancholic, reflective mood, as singer/guitarist Steven Bagwell’s soulful vocals convey a sense of longing and freedom. As the track progresses, it builds to a higher energy, incorporating great backing harmonies from Betsy Franck and Ansley Stewart.
