Friko – “Choo Choo” [Video]

| |

“Friko’s ‘Choo Choo’ charges down the tracks with heart, hooks, and restless energy.”

Chicago indie rock band Friko return with the new single and video “Choo Choo,” the latest preview from their upcoming album Something Worth Waiting For, arriving April 24 via ATO Records. The track bursts with gang vocals, shifting tempos, and the kind of wide screen indie rock that feels built for a packed room.

Frontman Niko Kapetan says the song began almost as a joke when he started singing “choo choo” while writing. It quickly took on a bigger meaning though. The song became a tribute to the band itself and the strange magic of life on the road. Kapetan has long been fascinated with trains and the stories they carry. For him they represent motion, memory, and the feeling of watching life pass by from a window seat.

The video, directed by Anastasiya “Stas” Slyvka, was filmed aboard Chicago Transit Authority trains, giving the track a strong hometown feel.

The new album Something Worth Waiting For is the band’s first to feature guitarist Korgan Robb and bassist David Fuller, who joined during Friko’s recent international tour alongside acts like The Flaming Lips and Modest Mouse. Produced by John Congleton, the record moves between noisy rock bursts, orchestral moments, and classic seventies style ballads while exploring the idea of always moving toward something just out of reach.
