“Chesterfields and Aftershave” Hits Hard with Heart

Dropkick Murphys just dropped a brand-new video for “Chesterfields and Aftershave,” a track off their latest record For The People. This one isn’t just another Celtic-punk anthem—it’s personal. The song pays tribute to singer Ken Casey’s late grandfather, who stepped in as a guiding force after Casey’s father passed away.

Directed by Jon Vulpine, the video blends old Boston sports footage (Red Sox, Bruins, Celtics) with scenes of a young “Ken Casey,” showing how his grandfather shaped his life. It all builds to a moving finale where Casey belts out “I hope I’d make you proud” while the band rips through the song at their Quincy 400 hometown show. Goosebumps, guaranteed.

Casey shared: “My grandfather raised me and instilled a lot of the beliefs I still carry today. He passed before the band started, but I hope he’d be proud of what we stand for.” With Grandparents Day right around the corner, the timing couldn’t be more fitting.

True to form, the Murphys aren’t just making noise from the stage—they’ve been showing up on picket lines, backing unions, and keeping their nearly 30-year streak of standing shoulder to shoulder with the working class alive.
