Curtis Harding – “The Power” [Video]

| |

“‘The Power’ is pure cosmic disco fire with a message that sticks.”

Curtis Harding is back with “The Power,” a shimmering roller-disco anthem that grooves as hard as it glitters. The Atlanta soul shapeshifter just dropped the video, complete with dazzling skates, wild dance moves, and strings that practically burst out of the speakers. It’s a perfect teaser for his new album, Departures & Arrivals: Adventures of Captain Curt, landing tomorrow via ANTI-.

Harding calls the song a release valve — a way to push back against the weight of the world and still find joy. Whether you hear it as a political statement or just the funkiest way to light up a Friday night, “The Power” doesn’t let up.

The album itself is Harding at his most cosmic yet. Self-produced at Adrian Quesada’s Electric Deluxe Recorders in Austin, Departures & Arrivals threads together space-funk, lush psych, baroque pop, and big-hearted soul. Think space opera meets Curtis Mayfield. It’s rich, trippy, and overflowing with Harding’s unmistakable voice and guitar.

Closing with the dreamy “Running Outta Space,” the record doubles as both a homecoming and a voyage outward. Harding explains: “When you’re feeling lost, knowing someone else has been there too can keep you going. That’s the whole spirit of this album.”
